In our final episode for Ask a Farmer Season 1, we met with county forester, Caitlin Mann, to answer all your questions about timber and forestry!

Like many aspects of agriculture, colt starting, horse training and horsemanship are often generationally passed down. But what if there isn’t another generation to pass those skills to or what if there’s no one left in the family to learn from? We spent some time with Top Hand Clinics and Crossroads Cowboy Church in Hot Spring County to learn how they’re working to ensure future generations have access to the knowledge required to use equine for agriculture and hobby purposes.

Shortly before Mother’s Day, we visited with Kelli Jenson of True Colors Farm by PerspectAbility, Northwest Arkansas’s first u-pick tulip farm. She shared the story of why and how the business came to be and how it relates to her role as a mother.

Jeff Pitchford has been named as Arkansas Farm Bureau’s executive vice president. The organization’s board of directors voted Thursday to elevate Pitchford to the organization’s top position, replacing Warren Carter, who previously announced his retirement, effective May 31.

You had cattle questions, so we got some answers! We visited Jefferson County for Episode 5 of our Ask a Farmer Series to visit with Darnell Davis. Davis has been ranching for 15 years, so he agreed to show us around and answer questions about raising cattle.

The 75th annual Arkansas Farm Family of the Year program has named the 2022 County Farm Families of the Year. The families will be visited by a set of judges to determine eight District Farm Families of the Year, which will be announced June 14. The state Farm Family of the Year will be announced in December at the Farm Family of the Year luncheon.
