AGCAST: Blockchain for Ag Business
Livestock farmers Cody Hopkins and Andrea Todt raise poultry, beef and hogs on their hilly farm near Leslie. Hopkins is also a member of and the CEO of the Grass Roots Farmers' Cooperative, a group of small-scale Arkansas farmers producing high quality meat it sells online. Building and maintaining trust with online buyers through product transparency is essential to the co-op's pasture-to-plate philosophy. That transparency comes to life through the co-ops use of blockchain labeling technology that allows its meat customers to know how it was raised, what it was fed, who raised it, who processed it, what it cost to raise and the buyer's cost. Hopkins describes the value of block chain technology in this edition of Arkansas Agcast.
