PODCAST: Cache River flooding
Excessive rainfall in August once again caused the Cache and other rivers in northeast Arkansas to flood cropland. For many farmers the flood came just before harvest and a portion of their crops were destroyed, primarily rice and soybeans. Shannon Davis of Bono in Craighead County is one of many who farm the fertile soil along the Cache River. He lost about 20 percent of his soybean crop after it was covered by up to two feet of water for several weeks. In this conversation he talks about the effects of the flood on his farm and his plans for the future.
